Thermal management is a key enabler for step change performance improvements in next-generation high performance motors used within electrified transportation. The first presentation will discuss advanced cooling concepts including the most recent developments in oil-impingement and oil-spray cooling. Selected case studies will outline design considerations, simulation, experimental validation, together with the corresponding e-machine performance entitlement.
In a second presentation, Wieland will present the zero-porosity rotor technology. The use of copper rotors enhances the efficiency of induction motors. However, its casting can be a challenging operation.
